Night

In my English class at school, we are reading Night by Elie Wiesel.
If you haven't read it, I highly encourage you to.
It's an easy read...probably could be read in a day or two.
But I have to warn you...it is a difficult read.
It's definitely not a feel-good book, but important nonetheless.
It is a true account of the Holocaust, and we read it in my class because I think
it is so IMPORTANT to never forget what happened.
If you pick it up, let me know what you think.

Thanks for the recommendation! I love to read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I think i'll see if I can pick it up at the library.

I have read this book and I recommend it too. No, its not a feel-good book. My favorite part is when he says "Human suffering ANYWHERE concerns men and women EVERYWHERE". -Sometimes hard to read when you remember that it is non-fiction rather than fiction. But worth it. Good choice Brooke!

Hi Brooke! I am so happy I found your blog. Your boys are darling. I'm glad you have your class read this book - it's on my book shelf, and I read it a few years ago and thinking about reading it again. It sounds like you guys are doing well. I keep in touch with Lex. It would be fun to get together for lunch or something!

Hey Brooke, I forgot to tell you, and I thought you might be interested...I am thinking about starting a book club blog. I don't have time to go to my neighborhood book group, but I can always make time to sit at my computer :). I know you love books, so i will let you know if it ever happens. Just so you have it, my email address is cortneyricks@comcast.net

Harrison is reading a book about the Holocaust right now. It is so heart wrenching. I wish I could read stuff like this though in my english class. I'll show you my books when you come down. I seriously have to read with a dictionary next to me. Everytime I sit down to study I think, "How on earth did Brooke and Joan graduate in English?!"

Art Show

Tonight was Cooper and Connor's Art Show which displayed all the art work they completed this summer during Rachel Waters' art class. They started about 5 weeks ago and completed a different art project every week. Tonight, family got to come and see their projects on display. It was so fun. Cooper and Connor are very artistic and love to create. Rachel, their art teacher, was awesome. She came up with the cutest projects and helped ignite their creativity. It was a great experience and I'm so proud of their great work!!
